Okay, first everyone

about all of this “who Katniss should choose” business. Katniss didn’t reallychooseat all. SPOILER************
She ended up with Peeta because it was the most realistic thing that could happen, and that’s one reason I actually think the ending is well thought out. It kind of just fell like that, and I respect that it’s what happened. I also love how in the end, Katniss isn’t completely happy with what her life is. It’s written as if “ok here’s my life, I have to make the best of”. It shows reality.
One thing I am absolutely not okay with is how Gale is just thrown aside so easily. Katniss says she’s had enough rebellion and now she just needs to settle, but forget the “rebellion”! What about yourfriend?Yourbestfriend ?Throughout everything, Gale handled things extremely well.
Just think for a moment if you were best friends with somebody in that situation, and you basically kept each other alive. They are your only outlet from this life of hell that you’re in. Now they get chosen to fight to death with 23 other kids. It’s treated like entertainment, and they’re treated like movie stars because they are about to get slaughtered. Could you watch them? Could you watch their pain while keeping sanity? Could you fully understand they acted in love with someone just to be alive? Could you stand feeling so useless?
No, you couldn’t and neither could Gale.
I don’t think many people can put themselves in that situation because not many people get to experience that kind of relationship with somebody.
That’s just my backstory about Gale. He’s must be one of my favorite characters. Not because people think he’s “hot” or anything close to that. I jut love everything about his actual personality and who he is to Katniss how he understands her more than she understands herself and even though these are fictional characters, they can’t keep away from my thoughts. I also think the quotes he or Katniss say about the two of them are absolute perfection. Especially the simple ones, like the little connections. He has a nickname for her and shows it’s innocent in a place of starvation. I won’t say they can’t live without each other but I can say Katniss can’t live without Gale. Not because it’s so important to “have a boyfriend” but because he’s dug his way into her. Of course she would appear living but if he disappeared, she’s broken. No question about it, she is broken, and there’s no place to fill that whole because there’s no way you can replace their relationship.
This is just a small part of my thought about Gale, I definitely have much more, but I’ll stop here.
